THE LIGHTHOUSE FAMILY SCHOOL
The Lighthouse Family School has been providing quality early childhood educational services to the community since 1972. The Lighthouse Family School is a Nationally Accredited Day Care Head Start Program, which provides service to children ages 12 months to 5 years old accepting DPW and subsidized payments. Head Start/Day Care services include a multi-cultural/bilingual (Spanish/English) curriculum, child health and early childhood development, safety, nutrition, mental health, early intervention, educational field trips and reading readiness/language development services. The Family School serves breakfast, lunch and snack and provides before and after school care. The Family School also includes a strong parental involvement and support program component, a family library program and organizes a variety of family oriented events and special activities that celebrate the accomplishments of the young students throughout the year.
The Family School also operates The Lighthouse Beacon Food Share Program. Free groceries are distributed to needy families and senior citizens on a regular basis. Clothes are also distributed on occasion. The Beacon Program also distributes holiday packages and organizes on-going educational workshops and special events for the community.
